As we all know, the word “MOTHER” is so essential as it plays a vital role in our life. When a lady becomes a mother, she starts thinking of her child, how to take care, what to feed and tries to make all the tasty things. But being a mother, she has to take proper precautions. “When you become a mother, you stop being the picture and start being the frame”. Every mother understands what her child wants and takes a place no one else can take.

When a baby is born, it makes love stronger, the days shorter, the nights longer, savings smaller and a home happier. As a mother she is very much concerned what all food she wants to feed a baby.

Babies start having a proper diet, beginning from the age of six months. There are many varieties of tasty food for babies, for age group six months, eight months and eleven months. 

For babies around six months, the food should contain rice cereal, ragi, moong dal and tur dal, which is rinsed and boiled correctly. Children’s start with cereals first, its too light food and easy to digest. When babies start growing at eight months, you can give them boiled Potatoes, khichdi, Mashed Rice, soft Idli, Dosa’s, etc.

Try to provide soft foods so that the babies can digest it. Even you can give boiled carrot, Banana, Apple, etc. which are mashed properly.

As they grow day by day, they understand the taste of food. Feed them every 2 to 3 hours, so that their body growth will be strong and fast.

Doctors recommend that babies should be fed exclusively with breast milk for the first six months of their life. Some mothers may feed their baby formula if they are unable to breastfeed their baby.

Most of the babies are ready to have tasty foods as they grow. 

When the babies are of eleven months or one year, start eating foods such as rice, chapati, boiled eggs which is soft. 

The khichdi is all type favourite dish of all babies. Meanwhile, don’t stop giving milk to them because they drink milk more day by day. Try to make a chart for them so that you can make all different kinds of food every day. At the age of one year, the mother starts giving some solid foods to baby slowly the baby should get used to it. While beginning the solid foods for baby keep the things in mind that:-

         – Always serve pureed food to babies and before serving, check for any solid part left out.

         – Try to serve the meals from a spoon and never push the food inside the baby mouth forcefully.

         – While eating, keep the baby water bottle near the baby.

         – starting the baby will not have the food slowly once they get the taste of the food they will enjoy it nicely.

         – Introduce different taste, flavor & texture food.

         – Do not forcefully feed your child.

         – Gradually increase the portion.

Why breakfast, lunch & dinner for babies is essential because by six months, your little one is capable of sleeping through the whole night. Due to this, nutrition for around 12hours is very necessary. 

When preparing food for babies, do not add sugar or salt directly to the food. For young babies, at the start of the day you are probably going to begin the day with milk and then move towards food, but from seven months or so and afterwards you want to encourage food first and milk lather on in the day.

This is how your baby gets a better range of nutrients more and more for growing. At the age of six months, its best that your baby has cereals, ragi porridge, rice porridge and rava porridge. When they start growing at the age of 8 to 11 months there taste changes, you can give them boiled eggs, mashed potatoes, banana, apple, carrot, beetroot, broccoli etc. At the age of 1years, babies start having everything slowly from Dosa, Idli to slices of bread.

Now here comes what to have in lunch and dinner. While making babies food, you can add coriander powder, ginger, cumin powder to make the foods flavourful. In lunch and dinner you can eat oats it contains calcium, B-complex vitamins, protein and fibre. 

Mostly everyone uses ragi porridge for breakfast, lunch and dinner because it is very healthy and tasty food for babies. Meanwhile, you can give different types of soups like carrot soup, corn soup, vegetable soup etc. Khichdi is made by using some rice, dal and if needed, you can add some vegetables which is very much tasty. Some new foods like cooked pasta, baked beans with toast, chapatti, bread, rice cucumber, carrot sticks and many more.

Healthy recipes for Babies

The most healthy food oats porridge, Rice porridge, Ragi porridge, Wheat porridge, urad dal boiled in water, these are very important

for the babies growth. Powders like Nuts, Sesame, Dalia, Almond, Poha, Rice, Ragi, are mixed in hot water and are given to the babies.

As they grow big they start eating solid foods like rice, puri, chapati with non-veg foods like eggs, fish and chicken. 

But avoid high fats and oily foods for baby because they cannot digest it properly.

Leafy vegetables like methi(fenugreek) and spinach(palak), is juiced and boiled for better nutrition. While sweet potatoes are best for babies growth.

Try to change the types of food so that they can have a proper taste in every meal and they can enjoy it.

All babies favourite food is boiled potatoes and sweet potatoes they will enjoy this food nicely. Give some fruits such as apple, banana, Mango, which they can eat comfortably. Don’t stop the milk because it is vital for them to have milk, as it is very healthy for them.

Most of the children drink milk more than having their food. In sweet potatoes, it has a low sugar level and has a great source of fibre, vitamin A, vitamin C, Potassium. You can give the sweet potatoes as boiled, mashed or roasted.

This is how babies like to have their foods, and they will enjoy it very much. Avoid heavy meals, and please don’t force them to eat. Try to give freshly prepared food and change the food type and taste in a week, so that they can enjoy the different variety and tasty food.
